OpenConnect, Katholieke Universiteit Leuven Sponsor Workshop for Business Process Analytics

Industry Experts Will Present Tools for Successful Business Process Intelligence Implementation

DALLAS - October 5, 2007 - OpenConnect Systems, an industry leader in discovering business processes inefficiencies, and Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (K.U. Leuven, Belgium) have teamed up to present the 2nd International Workshop on Business Process Analytics on October 18. The conference is designed for practitioners of business improvement initiatives and will feature noted experts in the field of analytics speaking on the advancement of business intelligence and business process management.

Business Process Analytics is the next stage of Business Process Intelligence (BPI) and refers to the application of various measurement and analysis techniques in the area of Business Process Management. The first step - business process discovery - was the main focus of last year's workshop and speakers will discuss how to integrate discovery techniques with analytics for even greater understanding of business problems and their impact.

According to Professor Dr. Jacques Vandenbulcke, with Leuven's Department of Decision Sciences and Information Management and Chairman of SAI "as more organizations implement business analytics and business process management initiatives, we're beginning to see them converge as information overlaps. The goal of this workshop is to educate users on this convergence and provide them with tools and techniques that will help them to discover and improve the value of their organization's processes."

OpenConnect has been working with K.U. Leuven for the past 18 months to research and develop mathematical systems for business analytics that will diagnose the root cause of process inefficiencies within any type of organization. Professors from K.U. Leuven will present the results of this research through a series of topics including business process modeling and techniques for business process discovery. Additionally, participants of the workshop will see a preview and demonstration of OpenConnect's Comprehend 2007, the company's latest version of its business process intelligence software.

"After working with our customers on business process discovery, we began to realize the role process analytics plays in understanding root cause analysis," said Ed Peters, CEO of OpenConnect. "As part of the conference, we are excited to offer a first look at our new product, which includes capabilities to integrate discovery and analytics. The result is an accurate picture of the cause behind business problems so they can be fixed accurately, the first time."

The workshop, hosted by SAI, will be held on October 18, 2007 at the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza in Antwerp, Belgium from 13u30 - 20u30. For more information, or to register to attend, please visit http://www.sai.be/nl/eventdetail.aspx?ev_id=151.
