KU.Leuven has engaged in research programs in Business Information Systems for more than 30 years and was recently named one of the top 25 universities in the world for software engineering research by the ACM. In February of 2007, KU Leuven was awarded the OpenConnect Chair in Business Process Discovery and Intelligence.

The goal of the effort is to discover new methods for process analysis and advance the pace of innovation in process analytics software. Professor Dr. Guido Dedene, Faculty of Economics/Applied Economics, is the holder of the Chair and, along with Edward Peters, OpenConnect's CEO, directs the research efforts.
